In the September debate, the presidential candidates stood in front of Reagan's presidential plane at his California library, telling heartwarming tales of how they'd voted for Reagan as a teenager (Chris Christie) and had always admired his lovely smile (George Pataki). Ben Carson credited Reagan with converting him to the Republican Party, and Jeb Bush invoked the ex-president while defending his wife from Donald Trump.
The American Principles Institute has come a long way since its founding as a student club. In 2011, the club established an Alumni Association to ensure its presence on campus and in the community. Over the past seven years the organization has hosted seven consecutive conferences for the community. It has sponsored numerous student scholarships, seminars, trips to the Reagan Library, club retreats, on-campus debates, banquet dinners, and memorials to the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. 076b4e4f54
